Edward Lee was the only son of James and Hattie Cole Lee. He was born on November 16, 1895 in Memphis, Tennessee. He had three sisters: Susie Webb, Julia and Parthenia. Edward married Margie Bryant in 1914. They had two sons, Edward Jr. and Willie Earl. They all preceded him in death. In 1936, Edward married Helen Hayes. Edward lived in Detroit from 1920 until his death in 1989. He was the oldest family member present at the 1988 reunion in Grand Rapids.
