Parthenia Kirk Cole

Parthenia Kirk Cole is regarded as the matriarch of the Cole family. This picture of Parthenia appears on the family quilt which is passed to each host family of the Hampton-Cole-Lee family reunion. Parthenia lived in Tuscumbia, Alabama, Cave Springs, Alabama and Roe, Arkansas. She farmed vegetables and made butter. She owned a mill and 67 acres left to her by her father, Toney Kirk. She was well liked, active in church, forceful, and solved people's problems.
She and her husband Enoch Cole had 15 children: Matilda, Enoch, Luke, John,
Kirk, Samuel, Adline, James, Hattie, Minnie, Buford, Arkie, Willie, Octavia and
Sarah.
