Sadelle Hampton Watkins

Born: January 11, 1891       Died: October 27, 1977

Sadelle Hampton Watkins was the daughter of James and Alabama (Bama) Hampton. She was a teacher and seamstress. Every year, her girls had to get linen ready for the fall. She sewed/embroidered sheets and pajamas. She purchased the family home in Tuscumbia from Bama and remodeled it. She married a train fireman for the Southern Railway. The Watkins' were not slaves--they were property owners. The Watkins are buried in Barton cemetery. The Hamptons are in Leighton.
